SLCB departing RWY32

When I was down there we had only the SW-NE runway (what was it, 22/04?) hard surface. First time I ever landed there on it was DC-6 and flare pots, the Indians would steal the light bulbs if installed. I drew a letdown for Coach that involved a double procedure turn (a figure 8) over that radio beacon, upon reflection now prolly too involved, never used it, the instrument letdown I drew (ala Elroy Jeppesen) at La Paz I guess is still in use, dunno for sure. Teardrop procedure turn out over the Altiplano to the west. RBNs stuff (Panagra, Braniff and LAB) there were only 3 or 4 VORs in South America, Lima, Buenos Aires, Rio de J. and Sao Paulo. 3 hard surfaced runways in Bolivia - El Alto, Coach, and Santa Cruz. Everything else was turf, worked fine - if not the "estacion de luvia" (rainy season). Dunno, upon reflection now, probably happy still here and alive, you got "street (mountain) smart" pretty quickly or dead, "one or t'other, I guess. Interesting days!

best, randy
