Besides a lot of C-130s from other NATO countries, the Germans have a unit of C-160 Transalls. The German Air Force unit commander was talking about the difference. He stated the C-130 had far superior hot-high performance and better payload. But that when it came to landing on a small isolated airfields with the bad guys around it, the C-160 was far better because it could come in at a high altitude and make a very steep landing approach. Question: How can a steep landing approach from a higher altitude be better in a hostile environment? Jack E. Hammond . Post Extras
