Ward, I wish I could say that TSA agents might be compassionate and understanding in such a circumstance-- but I've seen no indication of that. The full pat down is VERY intrusive, and seems particularly so to women "of a certain age", who have lived lives of some modesty.

OTOH, some younger women don't seem to mind it-- we had a sweet young thing interviewed by local news after going through it, she just shrugged and said, "I've been felt up more than that by a stranger on the dance floor-- at least this lady was wearing a name tag!"
