Well they must have indeed been light to get to that altitude any time after takeoff.

Strong jet stream can sometimes be reduced of you flight above the core -if you can.

I only flew the older B747-200, and most of the time we were quite heavy and could not get much above 310-330 after takeoff for a few hours.

I know the -400 has more power.
