"Memphis Belle" B-Roll Film
      #439846 - 06/23/17 10:19 PM

The link will take you to OneDrive and about 12 minutes of B-roll film for William Wyler's epic documentary "Memphis Belle." No distracting music or voice-over, just the reality of B-17 ops as they happened.

One thing I only recently even heard of, and at about 1:12 there proof, that many radio operators stood up with at least their heads sticking out of the open radio compartment overhead opening! I figured the wind blast would have been too much, but at least at takeoff speeds, that's visually disproven.

The link......documentary "Memphis Belle."

Adm. Andy, thanks for that. It was really great to see and study. Took Bob and his wife along with me in the B-29 FIFI once from someplace in NC? to Charlotte when we were out on tour with her. Interesting to see and thnk about, see that it was an "F" model since all the 17s that I ever flew were "G" models. Also noted that sheet metal work at the last, prolly a lotta people don't realize that both Douglas and Vega built a lot of B-17s.

best, randy
