Looks like a helicopter with the CG far above the main rotor. Great
potential for instability ugliness IMO.

That was my first thought as well. But looking closer, I'd guess that the CG may be lower than that. At least it's closer to the rotor then the rotor is wide. But stability would still be an issue. You wouldn't want to have a upset.

Hi all,

The “PAM 100”
http://www.vortechonline.com/specials/pam100B.htm

Inspired by the Hiller VZ-1 Pawnee circa 1955

Yup, I remember seeing it fly at Sun-n-Fun a number of years back. I was amazed at the apparent stability. One aspect of that is: the center of aerodynamic drag is above the CG so the faster it moves horizontally the greater the righting moment. Don’t get any higher than you’d want to fall from though. Ain’t no autorotation ability. They thought it might have value as a movie camera platform. Of course . . . now we have drones for that<g>.

Regards,
Tom Charlton (hmm . . . what’ll they think up next)

Sorta reminds me of that tree trimmer A-320 decades ago during a Europe demo flight? OK, a totally different type of aircraft.

Regards,

Dux -rainy Minneapolis/Minnesota. Don't remember a summer with this much rain, but the trees and bushes are all still growing and green.
