"The man explained that the photos belonged to him and that he’d hid them in his “My Pictures” folder."

That ranks right up there with hiding your wallet and keys inside your shoes at the beach. No thief would ever think to check there!

It's worse than that.

Before "upgrading" to Windows 10, disable networking, fix the defaults, and
only then enable networking.

OS X has its share of phone home gotchas, iOS too. Good suggestion, to disable networking, any platform, until you can sus out where the leaks are.

My son gave it a try and he's planning to roll it back. The final straw came when it tried to chisel him out of $1.50 a month to play Freecell without a 30-second commercial every game <g>.

One writer said that Windows 10 doesn't have spyware, Windows 10 is spyware.

I'll stick with 7 for now and, when I can't, I'll make he leap to something else.

That should improve office productivity. <bg>

I think this falls into the category of "hating your customer."

I'd have no problem with MS wanting to jump on the "in-App" purchase bandwagon, but they should do it by adding a new game where, perhaps to skip ads, or gain new levels, you could pay some money. To start charging to remove ads from games that have been there for years is just petty.

I think Dan Barkley on another board pointed out "The Cloud" means someone else's computer. I don't want that. Seems like all the providers are trying to move everything that-a-way. I won't be joining them if I have a choice.
We just took our office computers off a small business network because MS didn't offer it any more. The only choice they offered was a much more expensive system. We just went to a shared hard drive with a sync program for Outlook calendar and contacts. No more network or MS in that regard. We were constantly having issues which seemed to never get fixed properly.
