AvWeb is reporting that "former Cirrus Design CEO Alan Klapmeier is making a bid to acquire the rights to manufacture and sell the Vision SF 50 single-engine jet."

I read it, but I guess I don't get it. Must be some disagreements at the top.

Kind of like when Cray Research had to choose between two development projects. The company just didn't have the money or staff to do both. Seymour Cray's choice was not the company's choice so he went off to Colorado to work on what he wanted to work on.

In the end, it was a big distraction for both parties.

I hope that Cirrus does not suffer the same fate of corporate distraction.

I think, reading between the lines, that Alan would like to be back in charge of something. Good for him if he can get the backing and pull it off.

I met him a number of times when we lived in Duluth, and admired what he and his brother had accomplished. It has to be tough to build something like that and not be able to hang on to it.
