Scanner/Copier Q
      #445796 - 12/12/17 06:55 PM

I've owned a bunch of scanners and copiers over the years. Every one of them
had a white inner lid. When scanning a two-sided sheet, the white reflects
the printing on the opposite side.

I've painted them flat black or inserted a board painted flat black to kill
the reflections. It works fine, so why aren't scanners and copiers made with
black backgrounds?

Software doesn't blank out the area where there is nada.
You paint it black, and scan say a pilots license onto an 8X11 sheet, a lot of black ink will be used...
Or am I all washed up on this?

Ah, some look at the world as it is; some look at it as it should be :-)

For a copier, I think that's the issue. For most, it's better to have a white background when there's nothing.

Now, some of the scanners I use have black background so the software can find the edge of the paper and crop the electronic image.
