I know that I seeing a lot of 767s on international routes.

It seems the size fits the loads better.

Meanwhile, what's up with the delivery schedule of the USAF B-767 refueling bird. Perhaps they are on schedule but I don't read much about that order.

Regards,

Dux -perhaps we indeed should have gone with the A-330?

I was on the original AoA that chose the KC767.... the A330 would have been a disaster for the USAF... hands down. Worse than the KC-10... a very flawed concept.

You ask what's up with the KC767... John McCain is the one that screwed that program up. By decades and $100's of Billions! He's only interested in his own power. Always has been. He's been riding the POW thing for way to long. In reality he is a disgrace to the uniform. Do you remember the Forrestal? Getting shot down was his big break. I try not to be cynical, but McCain has done terrible things to the military and the country.

Well, it was only in jest that I mentioned the A-330 tanker. Of course our USAF will use a USA product -just like the old Air Force One;s (B-747-200) will not be replaced by A-380 birds.

I'm an Arizona voter for 15 years. No, did not vote for fellow retired navy pilot John McCain -however he has done a lot for vets and the VA.

It looks like the long term cost of jet fuel is under control. Perhaps the older (less fuel efficent) B-767 at a good price might be a wise consideration.

Regards, and around Tucson we sometimes see refueling C-130 aircraft. No, the do not refuel over Tucson =but we see the aircraft.

Scott -

The real crime here is that the Pentagon didn't push the technology envelope - and award some development contracts for blended wing tanker concepts - which would have saved US taxpayers Billions over the program life...
Not to mention much lower radar observability

But, that concept is still stirring... so maybe a dent can be made in the costs somewhere down the road... .by changing horses....

What was wrong with the KC-10?

I tanked off it one time. It was nice as a slow receiver.
