737 Max grounded...... due to engine issues....

From the sound of initial reports, it might not take too long to inspect/test/replace the parts identified with QC problems...

"quality escape" - I'm going to remember that phrase.

Taken at face value, it sounds like some tests were skipped as opposed to a defect detected.

If your tailor has a quality escape, it's called a wardrobe malfunction.

A quality escape is a part that does not meet the design spec, but gets delivered anyway. In other words, a violation of MIL-TFP-41.

Ah, good old MIL-TFP-41. Without the dashes, that's my main email ID. A
friend named Milt once asked why his name was embedded in my email address.
I have not encountered anyone personally who knew what it is.

My techie career started with a defense contractor back in the days of
ammonia-smelly D-size prints. That's where I learned the spec number.

Fellow design engineer of mine actually called out MIL-TFP-41 on a print. After the part was made the machinist mentioned he couldn't find the spec.....

Yeah, they kept ignoring some of the specs. It was our own shop, they started paying more attention after the dust settled.
