A couple of new instructional videos have been put up on my site: RNAV Approaches, and the Hudson River As An IFR Tool.

Ralph - -You bet. Often arrivals to LGA do the same thing (while IFR and on (sorta) vectors).

LGA and DCA both use 'River' Arrivals... they are actually the most fun approaches in the country. The vast majority are straight-ins, the River Arrivals are challenging.

Gunny, you're correct! Thinking back now to those "River Arrivals". Over the old world's fairgrounds for 31 at LaGarbage was both fun and scenic. And landing to the south at National was also fun but I always told the F/O to "slow this SOaB up to min" and then you had plenty of time to align!

best, randy
