Looking for a J-3 Cub to purchase [Re: Tom Charlton]

Congratulations! Thirty hours in that specific airplane under "varying"
conditions will certainly pay off in proficiency from now on.

Read up about damp spark plug wires. How does one solve that issue? On a Cub I mean, with everything out in the breeze. Just wondering.

Tom,
What a trip, and in winter, to boot. Although given your route, I don't think summer would be especially pleasant, either!

Thanks for taking us along, looking forward to any pics you might have taken with your camera along the way.

Best,
Andy

Tom is hereby nominated, by unanimous acclaim, to give a talk in September in Duluth on his purchase experience, what to look for in buying a Cub, and his travel home.

Patty, damp spark plug wires? WD-40! Just spray it on the wires.

The WD stands for Water Dispersant, what it was originally designed for in
the Space Program many years ago.

Hi Ray,
Lotís of tailwheel years ago in a wide ranging variety. But sure knocked the rust off me Cub rudder boots. Even had a few cross wind events. But a Cub will handle all that stuff if you wag the controls just right<g>!

Tom Charlton

Excellent. Have you started planning your trip to Alaska? :-)

Hi Mase,
Perhaps Ireland? It is equipped with that extra 10 gal. wing tank you know. Letís see . . . if the winds were just right<g>.

Hi Andy,
Didnít take a lot of photos. Only camera I had was a cell phone. Would usually turn it off in flight. Didnít want any interference with all my fancy aviation equipment<g>.

Wow. I didn't know a Cub could fly that high.
