RIP indeed. I'll never forget a time at Reno when three Unlimiteds went Mayday at once...that yellow Mustang came streaking down like Mighty Mouse and dealt with all three.

<sigh> Bob was the consummate pilot and gentleman. Sue and I always enjoyed the time spent in his company. :=(((

I saw him only once, but learned enough about energy management from his
demonstration to handle my own first engine-out (in a single) emergency.

It was a feeble imitation, but it sufficed to get me off the runway and lined
up correctly on a parallel taxiway to await the tug.

His eight-point roll and pouring tea demo was really amazing.

Well . . . Robert Hoover was the real deal in every way. Hero, Aviator and all around good guy.
If we have Saints in aviation Bob is one of them.

Was such an honor to meet and speak with Bob one morning at Sun-n-Fun.

Regards,
Tom Charlton

Saw his performance in the Commander at the air show they had a couple of times at Hamilton AAF in the SF Bay Area back around '89 or '90. Simply astounding.

Nickel on the grass.

I remember reading his book. (He sure knew how to start with a bang.) One memory that comes up is that he was touring Vietnam giving fighters demonstrations on what their birds can do. None seems too interested until he told them they could select the bird. He didn't care if it was the most worn out on the line - as long as it had good tires.

His performance made them believe in their airplanes.
