I believe the only have to be large values. They don't have to be extremely large. I wouldn't consider 2.25 to be a large value of 2.

I should also add, you can run into this with Excel. By default, it will carry all the digits behind the scene when doing math operations and ignoring the formatting you have going on. So if you're calculating the value of various items and then totaling it, you may find 2 + 2 = 5.

I had that driving someone batty until I added a function to the spreadsheet to make sure that the numbers were really rounded off and not just displayed rounded off.

I prefer 6-4-3 = 2

Although it is often written 6+4+3 = 2
