Hard to get stable AC without one.

Might do better to train their other employees and maintenance personnel. As a United platinum flyer, I am beginning to consider switching airlines. At least half my flights in the last couple months have been late or totally screwed up. Took 20 hours to get home from Louisville, via Dulles in the end. Took 14 hours to get home from Minneapolis last week. Both times they lied about the cause, which was a mechanical, first one they blamed on ATC, second they blamed on late arriving crew. I could go on ad nauseam. Late is bad, but late and screwing up connections is worse. And, pretty much nobody at United seems to give a damn. Despite filling out negative responses to email surveys that conveniently are never for the flights that are directly screwed up and inviting them to contact me, never happens. Tried emailing, just get a boilerplate response. If their goal is to chase away good customers, they are succeeding.

In Dec, flight out of CDG on United ended delayed 3 hours. AFTER we pushed. First problem, maintenance paperwork. Second, computer would not accept maintenance sign off, so had to get paper. Parked, then the APU started acting up. Which caused more maintenance and more delays with maintenance paperwork.

BUT, the crew was good about keeping us informed about what was going on.

But, they told use to go on to their site for getting compensated for the delay, but the site denied any problems with that flight.

So I sent a contact email about the issue, and it took almost 3 WEEKS for a reply. They did give me a coupon.

But overall, United is not as good as United or Continental was before the merger.

And the web site sucks. I have tried to book flights twice on their website and both times, I had to end up calling and spending an extended time to get the flights booked.

The last time, the one set of flights I was trying to book, totally disappeared from the options.

I have NOT been happy with United since the merger.

Chris Manno just E-mailed me his latest column, like Paul Soderlind told me once, "Randy, the reason they give airlines their names is so you can tell'em apart cuz we're all alike".

best, randy

I just read his last two columns. Is it just me or does he sound like he needs a vacation?

Chuckle, from the airline or from the University <g>? Dunno, I liked the one about that business guy blocking his exit who wanted to know about the WX in SFO? Like Junior, I've sure also had a lot of "voices in my head". I'm thinking now of that guy who accosted me once when I was standing across from the baggage claim area and asked me "where's the baggge claim"?. I also kept that voice inside while cocking a glance upwards over my shoulder at the BAGGAGE CLAIM sign above us and answered "unh, right there to your left, Sir".

best, randy

+1

My flights last Fri/this Mon to/from Little Rock. 4 segments, 1 1:20 late, 1 30 minutes late. And some folks wonder why I never book a connecting flight for less than 1:30. Apparently I am still lucky... :-(

We'll see what next week brings. $1,350 RT cheapest fare I could get 5 days out and not a middle seat... Capitalism at its finest, suppose I can't complain about that.
