And yet they're starting this program. Things that make you go "hmmmmm".

I wonder where their ab initio copilots are going to get the hours to fly their airplanes?

Maybe they will allow Amazon drone time.

I was thinking that also, before they were right seat at 600 hours (?).

I imagine they'll use the European model: send them to flight schools in Arizona.

My soaring club had a member for about a year, a young Czech named Petr who was over here on what amounted to a full-ride scholarship in flying...he's a Capt on Czech Airlines now.

Yeahbut, I doubt that Lufthansa expects them to acquire 1500 hours droning around in Bonanzas and Barons in Arizona, which I take to be Bruce's point.

...which raises the question: what does Lufthansa do?

You can read about it here:

http://www.lufthansa-pilot.com/

(Some German required.....)

(and it may not answer the question of hour building)

Does Germany require ATP for copilos?

Remember, Lufthansa pilots are NOT governed by US regulations.

Ab initio at JetBlue? [Re: Scott Dyer [HPN/NY]]

Reads a lot like an ad for Emery-Riddle, complete with financial aid. There
is nothing about flight hours that I could find. There was a lot of emphasis
on personality.

Re pilot qualifications, there was mention of a medical at that was about it.
