And that's just the opener. It quickly goes downhill from there.

It looks like it's going to take some blood before things get fixed.

Russell,

There's not an airplane flying that can't be grounded for maintenance issues including those that are new from the manufacturer.

Just because they can be grounded for maintenance issues does not mean they are not safe to fly.

True, but that article points to a number of issues that seems like it's only time before something ugly happens. For example, the FAA doesn't have the staff or even the procedural ability to do surprise inspections on these places.

I have no real data to back this up but from conversations with pilots who are still flying, I get the feeling that they have many more mechanical cancellations than I did.

Plus (from my discussions with them) a lot more of those "orange stickers" (or whatever you peeps at American called those M.E.L. items).
