Have you run into some? I know I ran an adviser and it pointed out a number of programs, but I'm not sure as it was more of a "not supported" rather than "won't work" advisory.

Russell, for starters, MS Office and WordPerfect Suite now running on my Win
7 machines can't be brought over. I think Office requires a license or
subscription for each machine and my current WP license only covers two
machines. So, we are talking about more than pocket change.

Then there are drivers for my oldish printers. And I don't see any 3rd
party up-levels for my sleep apnea hardware.

I see no advantage for *me* going to Win 10, and a load of disadvantages.

Ward,

I rent my MS Office for about $65.00 a year. It gives me the latest version. Cheaper than buying and worrying about it.

Bill, if I went to Win 10, I would have to rent three copies, for about $195
a year . After four years that would be about $780. I was talking about the
costs of moving to Win 10. That would be $780 I could avoid, if I stayed
with Win 7.

Incidentally, the three copies of MS Office I now have I bought for about
$100 each and have had for several years.

"Can't" or "not supported"? Have you googled the version and found out if there's a way to run it on 10?

>>>Auto download of Win 10 is apparently triggered by Win 7/8 update KB3035583.<<<

Must be more to it than that.... We installed that on 07/17/15, no issues...

Still using a non-MS antivirus, OK.

There is. Sorry, I didn't take notes. I installed some additional optional updates. I don't remember how I selected them - I think they said they were assessing my hardware. But once I added them, I got the upgrade offer in my systray.

So, anyhow my 7 is several months out of date.

Next time I went back to the Windows Update screen it showed what I’d normally expect to see. So, at oh-dark-thirty when I had a decent Wi-Fi data stream I had a successful download and system update for Windows-7.

Do I understand correctly that when I do upgrade to 10 all of my MS Office stuff isn’t usable? That I’ll need to buy some sort of MS Office subscription deal?

Regards,
Tom Charlton

I'm still using Office 2003 with W 7. Do't think I'll up date. I switched to Thunderbird long ago.

Windows is not done, until older Office won't run?
