Steph -

A couple of examples....
...I haven't checked them out,but.....

http://www.techworm.net/2014/10/microsofts-windows-10-permission-watch-every-move.html

https://boingboing.net/2015/08/10/windows-10.html

I would ask what idiots think up these privacy policies, but I know that's the wrong question.....The folks who approve them just say, well, US law is extremely liberal, and if you want to do that, it's legal in the US. And send MS the bill for the advice. Not always so elsewhere in the world, but that's a different legal question. MS should really be looking at itself, and asking, is this pushing too far ?

Meantime, I'm with you...... no reason to upgrade to Win 10 and volunteer to accept their key logging and other spyware as "business as usual"......

Really, time for a user revolt, I think.

So far, I am regretting the upgrade. I did two - my home desktop and a laptop I use at work.

It's pretty, let me think of other benefits: Faster? Only now and then. Lots of hangups, restarts, etc. No other benefit comes to mind.

Both computers have started up numerous times to a message: "Critical Error: Cortana and Start menu inoperative. Will attempt to correct on next startup."

Good luck. Signing out and in is not going to be enough.

There is a curious thing where my Outlook account is fine on the desktop, but on the laptop it shows nothing in the inbox or any history of messages. It is the same account.

Life was fine with Windows 7 on the desktop, and I was coping with Windows 8 on the laptop. Is there a way to go back?

As I understand it, Win 10 saves your old Windows in a directory called Windows.old and gives you one month to see the error of your ways and go back. It's supposed to preserve your personal files, but there are differing opinions as to what it does to your apps.

Supposedly you can roll it back for a limited period of time.

I have 3 machines running Win7 and do not plan to change. If the free upgrade would work on XP I would try it, but it doesn't.

Lots of places pointing out issues. Checks for old games it may not allow to be played. Past compatible files issues possible: you have to check if what you have will run on there. Automatic setting that have to be turned off if you don't want them doin somethin and you have to figure out what they are, etc.
I'll wait. Plenty of time. Maybe next time the Fed increases rates (which is rumored to be some time off now.)

Just upgraded a 64-bit Windows 8 laptop to Windows 10 and it's a lot better than Windows 8. I'm not sure it matters, but I'm also running Office 365 subscription without any problems.

the other bill
