Sure see a lot of 'em.

I've never even sat in one. I remember Rick Durden getting recurrency checks in a Grand Caravan some years back at Stearman Field (NE of Wichita) during the C-195 fly-in. How droll ... imagine flying a kerosene burning nosewheel airplane at a radial-engine tailwheel convention! <g>

I believe that he had only good things to say about it, however.

Mase T:

I have competed with Cessna and sold Cessna. They are tough! Someone once said if you are competing with Cessna and wanta know what Cessna is gonna do, think of what you most fear they will do. That's what they will do!
I laughed when they brought out the Citation, and laughed again when they brought out the Caravan. Shows you how smart I am!

Hi Mase,
Yup… don’t get me started talk’n bout the Caravan<g>
Back in 2002 I did due diligence looking for a replacement for our company C-320 Aerial mapping aircraft. I convinced our other department managers that a C-208B was the aircraft we needed. Major factors were favorable direct operating cost, dispatch reliability and a big-time safety advantage. Flying a typical aerial mapping mission with the C-208 was like flying an airplane with an “Easy Button” compared with the C-320.
September of 2003, spent a week with Flight Safety then I picked up our brand-spank’n new, Red, White n Blue Caravan. It then spent three months at the old Oklahoma City, Downtown Airpark for a $100,000.00 camera port modification.

Sadly, two years after I retired, the company has somewhat changed their business model and sold the Caravan a few months ago. <ng>

Tom Charlton (did I mention: I really liked flying the Caravan?<g>)

The airplane has unveiled for us the true face of the earth. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, 1939.
