Flight Crew Stress
      #340597 - 04/17/12 03:29 PM

Apropos of the recent incidents on American and JBU in which flight crew had
a crisis in front of passengers, the article referenced below, by a former
flight attendant and now long-time therapist describes some of the causative
factors behind such behavior.

Yes, a very interesting article and (unfortunately) pretty much on target.

The subject of excess stress and behavior is not limited to aviation. Certainly the military deals with this problem a lot.

Perhahps I was lucky to be in commercial aviation during some of the better years -still, furloughed in 1970 with 3 kids and a mortgage, looking for work and family on food stamps -equals stress.

Oh ya, big paycuts and more furloughs in 1992 with Northwest close to Chapter 11.

Still I retired in mostly good times and before 9/11.

Thanks for the article,

Regards,

Dux -getting too hot in Tucson, soon on the road again

Mmmmmm, so THAT'S what happened to those 340s.
