Video of a Sikorsky X2 test.

(Ya think maybe we can kill off the V-22s now?)

It would be nice but it would take a gigantic injection of logic and common sense into our defense acquisition system and that will never happen. After all, we have been sinking mega-bucks into the various VSTOL programs since 1950 without one single vehicle being proved useful.

Bob,

Am I wrong to think the F-35 is our current F-111. One plane fits all concept.

I hit 200 KIAS in an AH-1G (fairing, but no rocket pods)coming out the bottom of a Split-S. Got into retreating blade stall. Just another entry in my logbood under "I ain't never going to do that again".

Ooh, I'll bet that got your attention. What were the symptoms of the retreating blade stall for you, and how did you get out of it?

Anne

In my opinion, you are correct. The F-35 not only fills the bill as a fighter, bomber, VSTOL, recce, but offers a great deal of corporate welfare to the manufacturer. A politicians dream. But history shows us we have bought some really badly designed airplanes and made do with them, ie., the F-18, F-111, A-5, et al. Price might kill the F-35, just being bad won't.

Mainly air frame vibration and feedback through the cyclic. It may have tried to roll to the left and the nose pitch up, but not much???? I just put the collective on the floor and flew it out the bottom. I started at 5,000 agl so I had lots of time and room.

Once I returned to the World I was pretty much a standard rate turn guy and the the higher the better. :)
