I have it just a tad worse than you, Ed. With the beacon, I can see very slight variations between the green and white, but would be completely guessing which was which.

I might give the lantern a try, but since I'm 90% sure I'll flunk, it hardly seems worth the time and effort. I'm sure the FSDO folks have better things to do.

I should have the tower folks give me the lights sometime when I'm down there after dark just for kicks....

It's worth checking for yourself with the lights from the tower. That's
what the FSDO will do if you tried for a waiver.

My procedure is to enter the time off in the block they give you and then update as I make each waypoint. This forces me to see if the assumptions I and the FliteStar made are going down the tubes. I also cross-check the planned fuel consumption with the totalizers readings.
