Who wants to buy a Tennessee airport?
      #268544 - 10/17/09 06:59 AM

A little over a year ago my friends packed up their farm and moved lock, stock, and barrel to Tennessee. (Great quote as they owned there, and here, a gun shop!)

Well, duty calls them back to CT, so they are selling their place here.

I have put together a website to help promote and market the property. Please take a look and pass along to anyone and everyone who may be interested. Or anyone who may become INTERESTED after looking at the place. It is quite lovely, with the potential to fulfill my friends dream of making a small airport community here.

Here's the link.

Longmeadow Farm, TN65

I came down here this week to help out. I've been working on the website from home and got the "Great Idea" to put together a You Tube video to link at the end. Quality isn't great but it was my directorial debut......

Best,

Tina

(Who has to go get ready to DRIVE home to Connecticut in about an hour. <ugh>)

Nice job!

Does the Springfield in the kitchen stay?

And, that's the second tailwheel converted early 172 I have seen this week. Looks like it also has a Doyne 180 conversion.

Yeah, it's a nice property regardless of the off-putting outside appearance of the house. I love that area. Spent some time a long time ago there, when there was an Air Force base there, Sewart, which had a flock of C130's.

FYI the web site has a couple references to "click on the link to the left" and there is no link to click.

yrraL lives in that area. Maybe he would buy it <G>.

Thank you so much Jeff, it means a lot to hear that. It was a lot of trouble making that site, I do hope it works out.

We've made it as far as Chambersburg, PA on our trip today. Whew, who knew driving was so tiring. I guess 12 hours in a VW Beetle is something better left to the younger folk.

Anyway, and no doubt ANYTHING is negotiable. <g> Funny thing is, one of the original shots of the front porch had two shotguns behind the chairs against the home. I told them that it might be wise to re-take the picture, though you never know if it is a good or bad selling point in TN.

Wow, you're good on the plane spotting. Yes, it is an early 172. The 17th one made, in fact. Not sure who did the conversion, though. Nice plane, 180 h.p. STC engine in front.

Best,

Tina

Oh dear, I will have to check for that left clicking tendency....

Thanks.

Did you know that was me on AOPA?

Tina

Tasteful and interesting site! [Re: Tina Gonsalves (7B6)]
      #268686 - 10/18/09 12:12 PM

That's a very tasteful and visually-interesting site you've put up, with lots of good photos. Good luck with it!

Now I'll tell you one of my pet peeves with websites, and that's a site with photos that link to the same photo of the same size :-) Why waste the visitor's time with links that don't add anything? Or better, why not take advantage of the linking opportunity to link to larger photos (which a visitor is expecting from clicking on the photo link)?

Thank you very much, Mick. I really appreciate the feedback. I do hope it shows the property well. I am more than open to any and all criticism, since the goal is to sell the place, not stroke my ego. :)

Nice website. Sure got my cat's attention who is sitting on the desk. She liked watching the propellor in the video. <G>

Good luck to the owners. HOpe they get it sold soon.

Strange how the prop photographed, huh? Sure wish the wx had cooperated so that the scenery was nicer. I arrived back home in CT yesterday around 3:00 p.m. I hear the sun came out yesterday....

As for the music, at first I put it on as a joke, kind of hokey/backwoodsy stuff. But it grew on me and more & more it seemed very appropriate for the video.

If anyone knows of an aviation website that I can post a link to, I would appreciate the info. I have it on AOPA and Barnstormers already.

Best,

Tina

Have you seen this airparks site? It includes buyer and seller listings, but I haven't explored it at all.

You could put it on the Purple Board. You have to join, but it's free.

Hey, thanks Mase. I think I am already a member, visited once to see something but forgot all about it. Didn't know they had classifieds.

I'm real new to this website stuff. Is there any way to embed a counter into a site to see how many hits it gets. I did a google search, and it showed lots and lots but I'm afraid of cooties.

TIA,

Tina

What cameras did you use? So far I've see a Canon EOS 5D, Finepix A850 and some odd data. And that's just from the ones I can get data from.

You can get all that, huh? Okay... what was I wearing when I took the pictures? <g>

It was, obviously, a hodge podge production. Some of the shots my friend took and mailed his memory card to me. (The Canon.) I think the finepix one was mine that I bought at Walmart for <$100 and I used for the video and for some aerial photography I do here at home. (Best "investment" ever.) The third one was some other cheapo Vivitar that cost more than my cheapo, but didn't do as well.

Best,

Tina

Tina, what software did you use to build the web site? Or did you just edit the html by hand?

Hi again, Mase.

I used the features of the website. Shhh.. don't tell anyone. It was remarkably easy once I got the hang of it. <g>
