So that greenish plastic FAA thingy in my wallet is really a diploma?

The last time I asked a store clerk if they accepted Federal Reserve Notes for payment; she answered -- NO. Only actual money (g). Look at what the folding currency you carry is called.

Best,

Dave

Then there was the Blue Card. It had a hole in it; you'd hold the card up to the sky and if the colors matched you could fly <g>.

Jeff, I recently saw an Hawaiian over-printed $10 bill. I told a guy about
how the U.S. printed those bills early in WWII so they could declare them
void if Japan invaded Hawaii. He went on eBay and found some, so bought one
and later showed it to me. I had not seen one since 1943.

Drifting even more...

I didn't know about the currency in Hawaii.
This is on E Bay for 24.95.

Yepper, that's it!

Typical bureaucratic mind some official had back then. Overprint all the
money in Hawaii and declare it void if Japan invades Hawaii. Great plan,
save the U.S. millions of dollars, right? But they never thought how fluid
paper money is. In no time those overprinted bills were everywhere. I saw
one in north Georgia in 1942.

That's like the bureaucratic mind that thought of planting poison ivy on
Sandy Hook, NJ to infect any German spy who might land there during WWII.
They are *still* trying to eradicate the stuff, 70 years later, so folks can
go swimming in the ocean there.
