Yup, those shadows help a lot. Mine was white like that with blue Beech stripes. N-1174V. The photo made me recall how extremely close to each other the rudder pedals were!

Yup, also remember having to "help" that electrical gear retraction mechanism out some, the crank was over there on the left side on that sidewall. BTW, that was the very first "throw-over" yoke I'd ever encountered.

Yup, thinkin' the same! Looked at it again and again remembering how close together those rudder pedals seemed to me. And those hand cranks to raise/lower the windows.

Also, you notice that the right side has no brakes? Same deal on the Swift, thas'why I always started a new student off in the right seat- and then later - after they showed me that they "knew what the rudder's for", can get over here in the left seat!

Same on some Comanches, although they're a bit better mannered on the ground. Consistent, smooth touchdowns somehow eluded me when flying the Twin Comanche for some reason.

Scott Hartwig told me that "any landing that wasn't abrupt enough to jar the towbar from it's clipped position on the bottom of the hat shelf is acceptable." I must admit to a few that only barely qualified. <g>

Thinking tho here, on the PA-24s no toe brakes (on the one I had, at least), just that handle underneath (that one that got bent (as in "Whoa, you SOaB!") during an aborted takeoff or after a l-o-n-g landing).

Randy,

Did the D17 fly as good as it looked?

I always thought that it flew fine - but that advertised 202 must'a been a figment of someone's imagination!

It just looks fast even setting on the ground. :)
