From an anonymous source...
Here are two videos that are a stunning example of a Federal Bureaucracy that is fostering incompetence. This is not the first case that this particular FAA inspector has lost. He works out of the Scottsdale FSDO. This inspector was a police officer that has never held an aviation certificate of any kind. Yet he revoked the operator’s license for 14 months before they could get it resolved. I was waiting for a candid camera person to come in and say just kidding… but no… it is for real.

That's really an old story, and a legacy from the last administration, not the present. More details here:

Not to say there are not still issues, but it would seem that management has changed focus.

Chilling! To be right and have a government agency shut you down is frightening.
Best,

Reams,
I don't think this is an administration thing, I think this guy is a sociopath.
Even when they show he is dead wrong, he sits there with a "So what" attitude.
Fortunately they are not all like this, my local fed sent me a letter one day to say that the manufacturers MEL had been updated and ours was no longer valid. Then she sent me the updated version. Nice.

Perhaps the lawyerfolk here will correct me, but I don't think it would be very smart to say "Yeah, come to think about it, I was wrong, sorry about that" in a deposition...

Amazing.
Reminds me of the FAA dude who wrote up an aircraft with a Q-tip prop.

Of course it's hard to determine what the truth is. Is Air Trek a competent responsible operation that is being harassed by the FAA, or is it a hazardous operation that was long overdue for revocation (or something in between)?
The fact that Air Trek was in business for over thirty years without serious regulatory problems doesn't mean that they were running a safe operation in 2008. What could have happened? Well, Air Trek might have run a great operation for nearly all of that time and then gone bad after a management change or extreme cost cutting. Or it may have been a bad operation for a long time with a negligent FAA failing to take necessary action to correct it.
I don't really know anything about aviation, but I know plenty about regulation and the operation of government bureaucracies. Once in a while, those bureaucracies are right.

I daresay my qualifications to be an airworthiness inspector exceed those of the guy being deposed. I have a Pilot Certificate, and I have watched expert licensed mechanics with Inspection Authorization for a lot longer than he has.
Where do I apply? <G>.
