Ralph,

On the Falcon system the 680i is speced as being from EVGA. They appear to have 'em available. I'm going to call Falcon NW Monday (1-15-07) and see if that's true, for the box they're building. Like you said, who knows...

My EVGA experience is limited to the 7900GTX card on the Dell box...the minimal TS for that card that I required was reasonably aware, and in English...

Joe,

>>Sounds like they've given up on it and decreed any further problems the customer's fault. What a new concept <no g>.<<

Hmmm, thought that *was* the MS concept all along ;-) (A pointer to the full text of that article is here.)

>>Show Us Your Wow!<< >>How do they come up with this stuff?<<

I don't know. Used to be, they only had the buffer overrun experts employent opportunities. Looks like they've lowered the bar for marketing too ;-)

Hmmm, yes, good customer reviews and $60 under the Asus board...have to think about that.

Ralph,

I'll be getting a delivery estimate on Monday (hmmm, it's a holiday, maybe Tuesday) from Falcon (I hope) and maybe more info on the *actual* EVGA board availability. When I get the Falcon box in a few weeks, I'll certainly post results/benches/FS9/FSX performance notes and screenshots.

I still think that even with this horsepower, to run FSX in an acceptable mode with most/all of the eye-candy, low & slow VFR, especially for landings, is going to be out of reach, FPS-wise. Hopefully, I'm wrong. And then there's the RealAir accurate flight model AC, dunno how that'll work with FSX, didn't bother to install it for FSX on the Dell box. FS9, that's another story, since it runs great as is on the 955EE dual-core. *That* should kill on the new box :-)

RealAir has released updates for FSX, at least for the SF260.

Ralph,

Thanks for the headsup re: RealAir SF260 for FSX. Haven't flown that, but the price seems reasonable...
