We switched from the home-grown NLTSS (New Livermore Time Sharing System) to
Unix in the late 80's. A good fraction are now Linux.
The PC command line still seems crippled - but I just don't do that kind of
work on Windows machines, so I don't really notice.

I sort of disagree with that. I find the various unix shells quite powerful and useful. I remember spending many a pleasurable hour debugging shell scripts.

I'm not saying it's not useful. I use it every day. But it's not for
everyone.

Hi Ed,

I used 4DOS and 4OS2 for a while. But that was a few years ago. I have only used the dos window a few times a month in the recent past.
