Flight Sim X [Re: Jim Bell]

I'm in the same boat as you. I bought FSX and now I need a new computer. My
old AMD Athlon 64 3400+ is no longer adequate.

If Vista proves to be a good product, I'll buy a new box and transfer
everything.

Geoff

Geoff,

>>I bought FSX and now I need a new computer. <<

Scary, isn't it. I dumbed down most of the settings in FSX today, scenery/weather, etc. That didn't make much difference, still @ 13FPS, which is unacceptable. FS 9 runs @ 30, most everything maxed out, and with the RealAir 172 and the CH yoke ( still haven't permanantly installed the CH pedals, gotta redo my setup for 'em to fit) it's a good ride.

I'm still finding it amazing that FSX could care less about multi-core boxes, go figger. Disabling Hyperthreading on the Intel does improve things for FSX a *bit*, just not enough to make me want to use it.

When you choose an AMD box next time, let me know. Never had one so I'm not sure what I'd get.
