Deja vu all over again [Re: Mase Taylor]

Wow, Mase, you should write a book! Seriously. Those behind the scene
activities cannot be made up and make for fascinating reading.

Sounds like some of the incidents I was involved with in the military.
Innovate, Plan B, Plan E, make up a plan but make it work NOW. A constantly
moving target. When I was 60 years younger, it was fun, or so I seem to
remember -- now.

The thought has crossed my mind more than once.

One interesting thing during all this storm recovery was a call I got from a railroad exec. He had all sorts of questions about deicing - equipment, fluids, procedures...turned out he had a serious problem in a local yard and wanted help. Tracks were iced over from the freezing rain that preceded the snow and railcar doors were frozen shut. I couldn't help him though. There are environmental implications of spraying glycol willy-nilly. Airports have to have an EPA permit. And I didn't have the glycol to spare, nor ther personnel, not to mention risking the deicier off-field.

Mase,

Go for it. In airline literature there are a seemingly endless series of books by or about pilots flying through the mountains, laden with ice, low on fuel, upside down, with an engine out. There are relatively few about how airlines actually work, or worked. You could give us terrific insight.

Regards,
Joe

JetBlue has announced a "Passengers' Bill of Rights" giving refund vouchers for ramp-delay incidents: $25 for a 30-minute delay, $50 for 2 hours, a one-way fare for over 4 hours.

On the legislative side, a bill has been introduced in the Senate that apparently would give pax the right to say "Get me off this thing" after 3 hours.
