My Cessna 182 For Sale

The time has come to put the Skylane up for sale. With the sale of our business, she's lost her primary mission (shuttling me back-and-forth between DC and CT) and is just not flying enough.

I've written up the particulars HERE if you want to take a look. I'd be grateful if you'd point anyone you know that might be interested to that web page.

The URL is http://n631s.blogspot.com/p/n631s-is-for-sale.html

Thanks!

Re: My Cessna 182 For Sale

There is a guy on the Blue Board looking for a 182 in your price range. I posted your URL over there.

Nice airplane.

Good luck with the sale, Frank. I know it must be bittersweet to sell, regardless of it making sense to do so.

Re: My Cessna 182 For Sale

It is, Scott. After 11.5 years and about 1,300 hours I got to know 31 Sierra pretty well, and she always took good care of me. But now she needs to go to someone that'll fly her more than I can.

(Thinkin' about a glider rating, tho'.)

Re: My Cessna 182 SOLD

'31 Sierra has gone to a new owner who will fly her more than I can.

(Mixed feelings here.)

Like with a pet death, it can be a bad day.

Understood. I still remember when our club sold our Cardinal RG. It was a sad day for me, as that was my favorite.

Good luck with whatever comes your way next!

Thanks, John.

I'm thinkin' about a glider rating.

Not quite that bad, kciD. I'll miss her after almost 12 years and 1,400 hours...but I'm happy she'll get flown regularly. Like a dog, I guess, an airplane needs a job!

Hi Frank,
First . . . sorry for your loss.
As to glidering . . . Perhaps even more so than a tailwheel, the sailplane will learn ya what those foot rest are really for<grin>.

Regards,
Tom Charlton (who’s not flown a sailplane in many a year<ng>)

I think, from time to time, of selling mine. But I have a fear that a new owner would not care for it.

Make no mistake, my airplane isn't exactly pretty. But it flies and is mechanically sound. I've done a lot to keep it that way.

It'd bug me to learn that it was parked in the local equivalent of Corrosion Corner someplace.

The only power airplane I ever had ended its days with an owner who didn't quite get density altitude...:-(

Re: My Cessna 182 SOLD

Tom, you've hit on my motivation. I have been a pretty good IFR work-the-system pilot but never notably slick on the stick & rudder stuff. I feel that lack and hope that glider-ing may help fill it in.

There's a glider field over in Front Royal, VA, about a 1:40 drive from home. I figure I can go over there early in the day, get a couple of flights in, have lunch, get a couple of flights in, and go home.

Meanwhile, heat wave predicted here for Fri thru Mon. Temps 95+. Does that lead to good thermals?

Not in and of itself. Here are some of the variables involved:

Front Royal....what a pretty spot, nestled in the valley!

Re: My Cessna 182 SOLD

I didn't want a particular person/company to get hold of my little helicopter. I refused several times to sell it to him. However, the guy who bought it, used it for the summer, flew off the hours and then sold it to this person. I can only hope that one of his pilots doesn't put it in Long Island Sound or somewhere in the Caribbean sea.

Sad!

Anne
