Re: RC Flying: an indoor sport?

I wonder how long until someone does the prop reverser trick in a real airshow....

I like the knife-edge loop using rudder... That would be a trick in a real airplane.

True enough! it's one thing to hang on a prop in a climb, but to hover in the middle of a dive?????

(Hey Gunney!!! Wanna put a PT-6 with a 10' four paddle blade prop in your Extra 300?)

What this video was best at was demonstrating what can be done with an aircraft with an approximately zero weight to aero surface area ratio and approximately infinite power to weight ratio.

I'd HATE to be the pilot in something like that - I have a feeling that some of those maneuvers, even for the model, were + and - 15 or more Gs.

OH, did anyone else pick up on the opening music being the same as the "Twin Ring Motegi Honda Air Show" video that was making the rounds a few years ago?

Tom-

You know Wayne Handley did that with his Raven a few years back... fantastic show... incredible power to weight.... that is until he had a prop reverser problem during a maneuver.... retired after that one.

Cool idea, but no thanks<g>.

Yeah, current RC is pretty wild. Brushless AC motors, lithium polymer battery packs and foam airplanes. Someone just announced a 20kW motor or about 27 HP, that you can hold in your hand.

I am currently playing with electric RC helicopters. Amzing things can be done (but not by me, yet), like inverted hover and tap the button on the top of the mast on the ground. Or flip, in a hover from upright to inverted.

Look here for videos: http://www.helifreaks.com/forum-69.html

Look for things that mention 3D.
